Engineering Student Organizations

The CDE is also a home base for several identity-based Contracted Independent Organizations (CIOs). The groups have access to individual and group advising, monetary support, and after-hours use of the CDE space. If you are in need of support and/or assistance for your group, please contact a CDE staff member. 

  • National Society of Black Engineers

    The mission of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) is "to increase the number of culturally responsible Black Engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community." NSBE builds leaders both inside and outside of school. Our programs fall under some of the following categories: Academic Excellence, Pre-College Initiative, and Community Outreach.

  • Women in Chemical Engineering at UVA

    The primary purpose of Women in Chemical Engineering (WChE) organization is to educate, empower, and advocate for women in chemical engineering by providing an open space for dialogue, mentorship, collaboration, camaraderie, and skill-building through professional development, community networking, and outreach to primary, secondary, and post-secondary institutions. WChE is open to all genders and encourages active engagement with other underrepresented minority groups such as WICS, NSBE, SWE, and oSTEM.
