Application Deadline
The Accelerated Master’s Program in Systems Engineering uses rolling admissions, and class size is limited. While there is no hard and fast application deadline, we encourage interested candidates to apply early in the admissions cycle. Applying early is to your advantage, and it gives you time to prepare for the program, secure financial resources, and gain your employer’s support for your participation in the program. The program begins in late May each year. We endeavor to review all applications and finalize the cohort by mid-April; however, we will continue to accept well-qualified candidates for admission until all slots are filled or the program begins. When the cohort is full, a waiting list will be kept. Once the program begins, no new applicants can join the cohort until May of the following year. If you anticipate applying late in the admissions cycle, please email accmp@virginia.edu for special instructions to expedite the application process.
Transcripts
Please upload unofficial copies of your transcripts to the online application site. We can complete the admissions review process with your unofficial transcripts. Official transcripts must be received before the program begins. Please request your official transcripts immediately upon submitting your official application. Do not wait until notification of your admissions decision to request your official transcripts.
Official transcripts must be sent directly from your institution to the UVa School of Engineering and Applied Science.
The University accepts electronic delivery of official transcripts. Have your transcripts sent to the School of Engineering and Applied Science at gseasadmission@virginia.edu.
Sealed hard copy official transcripts may be mailed to the following address:
University of Virginia
School of Engineering and Applied Science
Office of Research and Graduate Programs
PO Box 401103
Charlottesville, VA 22904-4242
GRE General Test Waivers
The GRE General Test is waived for all AMP applicants. Candidates for admission who have taken the test may submit their scores to serve as an additional information point for the review committee to consider, but it is no longer a required part of the application. Applicants with lower GPAs, or those with non-technical undergraduate degrees and/or limited professional experience may choose to take the GRE to demonstrate readiness for graduate-level coursework and to improve their prospects for admission to the program.
If you would like further guidance, send copies of your unofficial transcript and your resume to accmp@virginia.edu for review and feedback.
Follow Up
Alert the program manager via email when you submit your official application. Send a message to accmp@virginia.edu. Track which materials and recommendations have been received and which are still missing in your online application. If you have questions concerning receipt of transcripts, letters, or test scores, you may contact the School of Engineering Graduate Office at seas-gradoffice@virginia.edu.
Decision Timing
Once all application materials have been received, if everything is in order, you should receive a decision electronically in about a month. If your employer requires a decision letter before you receive your electronic notification of the admissions decision in order to approve your participation in the program and your education benefits request, contact the AMP program manager at accmp@virginia.edu for assistance.
