Explore a Career in Biopharma

Bridge to Bio aims to connect Virginia community college STEM students with rewarding careers in biopharmaceutical manufacturing with the goal of increasing the pool of diverse, talented engineers interested in the biopharma industry.

The Bridge to Bio program includes two primary components.

First, prospective participants apply to attend a five-day, fully funded residential program in partnership with the Department of Chemical Engineering at UVA and leading biopharmaceutical manufacturers. This program takes place on UVA Engineering’s Grounds early in the spring semester. Participants interact with experts from industry and academia to gain insight into how life-saving medicines are manufactured.

Applications for the residential program are due December 15. Apply Here!

Second, those who complete the five-day residential program can apply to UVA Engineering. Normally, if you are accepted and enrolled, you will begin studying for the Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering the following summer.

As a Bridge to Bio enrollee, Department of Chemical Engineering faculty, alumni, and student mentors will work with you to help you navigate the UVA ecosystem and continue to build relationships that will help you succeed at UVA and in your career. You may also work with industry mentors.

This support – including regular professional development events, such as networking and career nights – will be maintained throughout your time at UVA.
