Creating a link to a file

Step 1. In the editor, highlight the text or image you wish to link.

Step 2. Click the IMCE button in the editor toolbar. This is the button immediately to the right of the E button.

Step 3. This opens the IMCE File Browser window. In the left column of the File Browser, locate the folder that holds the file to which you wish to link and click on the folder name to open it. In this example, the chemical-engineering folder has been selected and opened.

Step 4. Select the file and click on it. This highlights the line blue to indicate that the file has been selected.

Step 5. Click the Insert File button. This creates the link to the file and closes the File Browser window.

The selected text now appears in blue font color and is underlined to indicate that it is now linked to the file.

Creating a link to another page in the CMS

Step 1. In the editor, highlight the text or image you wish to link.

Step 2. Click the Insert Link button in the editor toolbar. This is the button that looks like several links of a chain.

Step 3. This opens the Link dialog. Make sure that the Link Type field is set to the Internal path option. In the Link text box, start to type the title of the page to which you wish to link. The CMS will display a list of pages that match what you are typing. When the title of the page to which you wish to link appears in the list, click on it to select it.

Step 4. The title of the page you selected will appear in the Link text box. Click the OK button at the bottom of the Link dialog. This closes the dialog.

The selected text now appears in blue font color and is underlined to indicate that it is now linked to the page.

Creating a link to a page outside of the CMS

Step 1. In the editor, highlight the text or image you wish to link.

Step 2. Click the Insert Link button in the editor toolbar. This is the button that looks like several links of a chain.

Step 3. This opens the Link dialog. Make sure that the Link Type field is set to the URL option. Select the correct option in the Protocol field.

You can find the correct choice by viewing the page you are linking to in your browser. In the web address bar at the top of your browser, if the web address begins with https:// this is the option you select in the Protocol field. If the web address begins with http:// or doesn’t begin with either http:// or https://, you select the http:// option in the protocol field.

Copy and paste the web address (URL) of the page to which you are linking into the URL field.

Step 4. Click the Target tab in the Link dialog. In the Target menu, select the New Window (_blank) option.

Step 5. Click the OK button at the bottom of the dialog. This closes the dialog.

The selected text now appears in blue font color and is underlined to indicate that it is now linked to the external web page.

Creating a link to an email address

Step 1. In the editor, highlight the text or image you wish to link.

Step 2. Click the Insert Link button in the editor toolbar. This is the button that looks like several links of a chain.

Step 3. This opens the Link dialog. Make sure that the Link Type field is set to the E-Mail option.

Enter the email address to which you wish to create a link into the E-Mail Address field.

Step 4. Click the OK button at the bottom of the Link dialog. This closes the dialog.

The selected text now appears in blue font color and is underlined to indicate that it is now linked to the email address.

Inserting the content of a Quote Callout into the editor

Step 1. In the editor, locate the point in the content at which you wish the quote to appear. Create an empty paragraph at that point and place the cursor in this empty paragraph. You can create the empty paragraph by placing your cursor after the last word in the paragraph above where you want the quote to appear and pressing your keyboard’s ENTER key.

Step 2. Click the “E” button in the editor toolbar:

Step 3. This opens the Insert Node Entity dialog. You use this dialog to select the Quote Callout that you want to add to the content. Start typing the Title of the Quote Callout into the Content text box. The CMS will display a list of Quote Callouts that match what you’re typing. When the Title of the Quote Callout you want to add appears, click on it.

Step 4. The Title of the Quote Callout will appear in the Content text box. Click the Next button at the bottom of the dialog.

Step 5. Make sure the Display As field is set to the Full content option. Then click the Embed button at the bottom of the dialog.

The quote is inserted into the editor content. Note that the quote will not be displayed fully styled in the editor. The quote will pick up its full styles when displayed on the page.
