  • Applied Math

    Applied mathematics is a branch of mathematics that deals with mathematical methods that find use in science, engineering, business, computer science, and industry. Applied math is a combination of mathematical science and specialized knowledge. It is used to describe and solve practical problems by formulating and studying mathematical models. UVA Engineering's Applied Math program is housed in the Engineering & Society Department.

    Our goal is to enable every UVA Engineering undergraduate student to obtain a significant international experience. School of Engineering International Programs offers information, advising and logistical support to engineering students interested in study, work or service learning abroad, as part of the services of the Engineering & Society Department.
