The Virtual BME Networking Night on the Handshake Platform is a chance for BME alumni and industry friends to engage with current students (1st years through PhD) in a career-building context. Alumni give back as they network with students, answer questions about their fields, and provide advice about breaking into careers in BME. Students build networking skills, make connections in the field, and gain insights into career pathways in BME. While this is not a career fair or resume event, it can be a good place to test the waters and share your company's career and internships pages.
BME Alumni and industry friends at all levels in their careers and training are encouraged to register on Handshake and get set up to offer 1-on-1 meetings (10 minutes) or group meetings (30 minutes). Students will then sign up for these meetings. In an ideal world, we will have the majority of our sessions set up around October 1st, so that students can sign up for your sessions in advance.
We will host the event on the Handshake platform. If you don’t have a UVA Handshake Account, please contact Peggy Reed in the UVA Center for Engineering Career Development: peggy@virginia.edu. If you do have a UVA Handshake Account, register here: https://virginia.joinhandshake.com/edu/career_fairs/35907. Here is more on registering and setting up meetings on Handshake: Link.
The event is October 6, 5:30-7:00pm EST (virtual).
