Join the Department of Engineering and Society for a meeting of science, technology and society scholars and guests from across Virginia.
More than 80 science, technology and society scholars from 10 Virginia universities are set to gather at the University of Virginia School of Engineering and Applied Science for the 2022 Science, Technology and Society Across the Commonwealth Conference.
The event will include lightning talks from attendees; a workshop on conducting community-engaged research with Sherica Jones-Lewis, director of community research at the UVA Equity Center; a workshop on incorporating ethics into research and teaching led by Rosalyn Berne, Anne Shirley Carter Olsson Professor of Applied Ethics and director of the Online Ethics Center for Engineering and Science at UVA; student poster presentations; and a talk by National Science Foundation program officers about the role of science, technology and society scholars in interdisciplinary research projects.
UVA Engineering’s Department of Engineering and Society organized the conference, and will be joined by colleagues from Virginia State University, Virginia Tech, Norfolk State University, James Madison University, Virginia University of Lynchburg, Old Dominion University, Hampton University and Virginia Union University.
The conference is intended to create networking opportunities and inspire new collaborations across the state.
