About the presenter. Katie Pelland, PhD, is the Assistant Director of Research Development and Training in the Office of the Vice President for Research and the Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs at the University of Virginia. In her role, she works to develop, collect, and disseminate research-related resources for graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and faculty members seeking external funding. Prior to this position, Katie completed her Ph.D. in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at the University of Virginia, focusing on speech biomechanics and applications related to cleft palate repair, and previously, she earned her B.A. in Mathematics from Pomona College in Claremont, CA.
