It will also serve as a remembrance of Glenn Stoner, the founder of our research center, who passed away in the summer of 2023. There is nothing Glenn would more enjoy than knowing that his academic off-spring were able to get together and celebrate what he created.   The Event: Ern Commons

We are all excited about the celebration on June 1, 2024 of 50 yrs of corrosion and electrochemistry research at UVA! It will also serve as a remembrance of Glenn Stoner, the founder of our research center, who passed away in the summer of 2023. The Event:

It will be held in the Ern Commons (https://events.studentaffairs.virginia.edu/ern-commons). That is a big space on a single floor, opens out to a HUGE outdoor space, and is quite close to Wilsdorf and Jesser Halls as well as the UVA Cemetery where Glenn's ashes will be interred. An event schedule for the day is under development, but will begin around noon in June 1, 2024, and finish formally in early evening after a dinner.

The bad news is that it is also one of the two consecutive weekends of UVA Reunions. Those aren't like graduation, but here is some hotel information: https://alumni.virginia.edu/reunions/reunions-2024/accommodations/ Of course, there is also an active Airbnb, VRBO and another local one called StayCharlottesville (https://www.staycharlottesville.com/ ) and other rentals available outside hotels. Because of the UVA Reunion, we suggest you consider booking early, even if later they need to cancel.

If you are on LinkedIn, please request to join the CESE - University of Virginia Alumni group on LinkedIn at https://www.linkedin.com/groups/14312332/

Please also send Sudesh Kannan (PhD '95) your email address so we can keep you informed (drsudeshk@yahoo.com).

This should be a great event a half century in the making!

Best,
