The Center for Innovation in Computing Education and Outreach (CompEdCenter) is excited to announce a six-week discussion series from Thursday, June 25, through Thursday, July 30, on remote teaching techniques, tools, and strategies. Each Thursday at 11:00 AM EDT, an invited speaker will present on a topic that worked particularly well for them during the remote transition in spring 2020 and offer thoughts, advice, and materials on how to adapt their methods for other courses for the fall. There will then be time for questions and a group discussion about other options that educators could try. We expect each session to last around an hour.
While it would be difficult to discuss all the options and resources during each session, we hope that the sessions will spark further conversation outside the session. The CompEdCenter will provide further opportunites and venues to continue such conversations through the UVACollab site created for the discussion series. All sessions will be recorded and made available through the UVACollab site as well.
Please see the Calendar for the current schedule of topics and sessions. This schedule is subject to change depending on the availability of some speakers. Please watch the UVACollab site for the up-to-date topic list.
If you are interested in being a presenter at one of these sessions or if there is a topic that you would like to see a discussion around that is not listed, please reach out to Mark Sherriff (firstname.lastname@example.org).
We look forward to seeing you at the discussion sessions as we prepare for the fall!
