Each year the UVA Department of Chemical Engineering presents a number of scholarships and awards to second, third and fourth year ChE students who have distinguished themselves academically, in leadership roles, and in other activities.
Details on these awards (including criteria) can be found on the department website:
To be considered for these awards, you must submit a one-page resume by the end of the month (by 5:00pm on Feb. 28, 2018) to Ms. Jennifer Davis as a PDF via e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org or as a hard copy to the ChE office (ChE 117). The criteria for the awards varies, so I strongly encourage all students to submit a resume by the deadline. As the saying goes, you can’t win if you don’t play.
Awardees will be recognized:
- At the annual AIChE Student Chapter picnic
- Plaques in the first floor hallway of the ChE building (for select awards)
- At graduation
Undergraduate Research Award:
The Gregory J. Canty Research Award was established by Mrs. Mary and Professor Dick Abidin in memory of their grandson, a 2012 graduate of the Department of Chemical Engineering. The award provides a scholarship to enable the recipient to conduct a proposed research project during the summer following the application and the subsequent academic year. As such, the award is only open to second or third year ChE students.
