The chemical engineering department at the University of Virginia has grown significantly in recent years to encompass a broad range of cutting-edge research in systems and synthetic biology, biomaterials, catalysis, environmental sustainability and energy. Graduate students at UVA have been recognized with major awards such as the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship and from professional societies such as the American Chemical Society Biotechnology Division and National Consortium for Graduate Engineering Degrees for Minorities. We’re also fortunate to be part of one of America’s best universities, with a world-class medical school, arts, culture and music all surrounded by the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.
