Don’t miss this exciting event in UVA Engineering’s Future Leaders Speaker Series, featuring electrical engineering alumna Lori Brown-Simmons, Practice Director at Dentons US LLP. Find out how the chief operations officer of a leading global law firm attributes her career success to her UVA Engineering degree. A reception will follow the lecture.
Lori Brown-Simmons has spent her career helping companies in the legal, financial services and education industries achieve their financial and business goals. Early on, as an engineer, she worked with a team to design complex sonar systems for the federal government before looking beyond engineering and earning an MBA. Lori chased the excitement of Wall Street and at Goldman Sachs helped companies manage their fixed income investment portfolios. She eventually left that role for a unique entrepreneurial opportunity helping to lead a natural juice company in the Bronx. More recently, Ms. Brown-Simmons relocated to the Washington DC metro area where she led the Marketing efforts for an educational publishing company before finally transitioning back to professional services, leading law firm operations now at Dentons, and previously DLA Piper, where she won an award for outstanding financial and operational management. The thread that connects all of these roles is her entrepreneurial spirit, intellectual curiosity and desire to improve an organization’s operations and profitability.
