The Graduate Engineering Student Council (GESC) is excited to announce the 14th annual University of Virginia Engineering Research Symposium (UVERS). This GESC flagship event highlights the research achievements of the graduate student body in the School of Engineering and Applied Science. As in previous years, GESC will host a competitive poster session for selected students to present their research and be judged based on technical merit, impact and significance of their research, and the clarity of their presentation. GESC is excited to announce the continuation of the 10 minute podium presentation competition as well, as introduced last year. The event will take place in Newcomb Hall on Thursday, March 22nd, 2018. Awards will range from $100 to $1000 for winners with awards for all finalists.
GESC would like to also recognize the great faculty and staff who enable the groundbreaking graduate student work at UVA. Starting in 2017, we have requested nominations for and presented two awards:
Advisor of the Year: A professor who goes above and beyond what is required to help students develop in their programs.
Research Mentor of the Year: A non-faculty, non-student research-focused employee (e.g. post-doc, research scientist or lab tech) who is indispensable to many students' work.
The event schedule is:
