Join us for this interactive workshop on writing research proposals. Research proposals are a particularly persuasive form of technical writing and are used to move to the next step in a program or acquire funding for your work. The tips in the presentation will be most applicable to funding proposals (grants & fellowships) but can also apply to dissertation proposals.

About the presenter. Katie Pelland, PhD, is the Assistant Director of Research Development and Training in the Office of the Vice President for Research and the Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs at the University of Virginia. She works with the Research Development team, where she is responsible for development, collection, and dissemination of research-related resources, including proposal outlines and templates for federal grant mechanisms. Prior to this position, she completed her Ph.D. in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, focusing on speech biomechanics and applications related to cleft palate repair.
