Title: Publish or Perish: Journal Paper Publication Strategy
Writing a scientific paper is a challenging task for graduate students, researchers, and faculty members. Based on years of experience serving as a Specialty Editor (Case Studies) for ASCE Journal of Construction Engineering and Management and Editor-in-Chief for ASCE Journal of Management in Engineering, this presentation will provide essential tips of writing a solid journal paper. It will discuss where to publish, how to convey your research, what to emphasize, how to revise and resubmit, and what to do with rejections. Role as a journal reviewer will also be addressed. The presentation is particularly beneficial for junior graduate students who are starting their academic career trying to find ways to write good journal papers.
