Introduction to Design of Structural Systems (CE 3330) – Spring 2019 & Spring 2020
Course Objectives: Introduction of concepts, approaches, procedures, and codes for the design of civil structural systems with emphasis on the characterization of structural loads, structural systems and system behavior on structural systems constructed of steel and reinforced concrete. Topics to include engineering properties of materials, design and behavior of compression members, flexural members, and tension members.
Properties and Behavior of Materials (CE 3700) – Fall 2012, Fall 2013, & Spring 2015
Course Objectives: Studies the properties and behavior of engineering materials, emphasizing construction materials, including metals, concrete, wood, and composites. Considers service conditions and underlying scientific principles related to applications and performance of materials.
Prestressed Concrete Design (CE 6310) – Spring 2014 & Fall 2014
Course Objectives: Prestressing materials and concepts, working stress analysis and design for flexure, strength analysis and design for flexure, prestress losses, design for shear, composite prestressed beams, continuous prestressed beams, prestressed concrete systems concepts, load balancing, slab design.
Introduction to Bridge Design and Engineering (CE 4500/6500) – Spring 2013 & Fall 2015
Course Objectives: Introduction to design and behavior of short and medium span highway and railroad bridges. Topics include aesthetics, preliminary design and layout, design of prestresses and plate girders bridges, deck design, foundation design. Additional topics may extend to condition evaluation and load rating of bridges.

Structural Concrete Design (CE 4213) – Spring 2011
Course Objectives: Introduction to design of reinforced concrete structural components. Analysis and design of reinforced concrete beams, columns, and footings. Overview of material behavior, limit state criteria, and practical detailing considerations. Includes the application of ACI 318 to cast-in-place and precast systems.
Bridge Design and Construction (CE 5261) – Fall 2010, Fall 2011
Course Objectives: Introduction to design and behavior of short and medium span bridges. Topics include aesthetics, preliminary design and layout, design of prestressed and plate girders bridges, deck design, foundation design.
Structural Engineering II (CE 3201) – Spring 2008, Fall 2008, Spring 2009, Spring 2010
Course Objectives: Introduction to the design of basic civil engineering structural components in steel and reinforced concrete. The Load and Resistance Factor Design method is applied to steel tension, compression, and flexural members and to basic connections. The Ultimate Strength Design method is applied to concrete flexural members.
Reinforced Concrete Design (CE 4211) – Fall 2009
Course Objectives: Design of reinforced concrete two-way slab systems and elements of continuous frames, including beams for combined torsion and shear, and short and slender columns. Isolated, combined, and continuous footings will also be considered.
