The National Science Foundation Research Traineeship (NRT) Program at UVA is the first of its kind in the U.S. and is leading the way in Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) education.
Through the CPS NRT Program, we have fellowship opportunities for incoming PhD students. The NRT Fellowship is for one year and includes paid tuition, fees, insurance and a $34,000 stipend. Following your first year, you would remain in the CPS NRT Program but receive funding directly from your PhD advisor or other funding.
To be considered for the PhD NRT Fellowship, candidates must be U.S. Citizens or U.S. Permanent Residents and have a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in a related STEM field. Please indicate your interest in CPS in your admissions application. You may also contact a Faculty Member, the Program Manager or your department’s Graduate Program Coordinator to share your interest.
Another fellowship opportunity through the UVA School of Engineering and Applied Science is the Dean’s Scholar Fellowship. This fellowship is self-nomination through the graduate application process and will cover tuition, fees, health insurance and provide a stipend for five years of graduate studies.
