Join the Center for Teaching Excellence for this seminar with Chavella T. Pittman.
In recent years, instructors have been increasingly asked to do A LOT in their teaching and for students in their classrooms. They are burnt out, overwhelmed, and demoralized–with negative impacts for teaching, student learning and instructor success (e.g., student evaluations, peer observations, reviews of teaching). Despite all of this, conversations about teaching and wellness have been seriously lacking.
This seminar aims to increase participants’ awareness of the relationship between teaching and instructor wellness (e.g., overwhelm, burnout, rest/restoration/renewal, joy). We'll do so by examining teaching overwhelm, what contributes to it, why it matters, and how changes to teaching can improve instructor wellness.
