IEEE honors two ECE professors for their outstanding contributions

Each year, following a rigorous evaluation procedure, the IEEE Fellow Committee recommends a select group of recipients for elevation to IEEE Fellow. Less than 0.1% of voting members are selected annually for this member grade elevation. The grade of Fellow recognizes unusual distinction in the profession and is conferred by the IEEE Board of Directors upon a person with an extraordinary record of accomplishments in any of IEEE’s designated fields of interest.

This year, the Charles L. Brown Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering had a double serving of good news from the IEEE Fellows program. ECE Professors Robert M. Weikle and N. Scott Barker have been elevated to IEEE Fellow grade, in recognition of their extraordinary achievements and contributions to their fields of interest. The ECE department is really proud of Bobby and Scott, and looks forward to supporting and fueling their continued success. This brings the total number of IEEE Fellows in the UVA Electrical & Computer Engineering Department to 14 out of 38 faculty with primary appointments in ECE.
