The University of Virginia has been designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education (CAE-CD). The CAE-CD program is sponsored by both the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
Students in UVA's BSCS, BSCpE, and BACS undergraduate degree programs have the option to complete a designated set of courses – the cybersecurity focal path – and earn a letter of completion.
The Computer Science Department and this course track had to undergo a thorough review to be approved as a Center. These efforts were led by Assistant Professor Ahmed Ibrahim.
