National leadership roles, university service, promotions, and career milestones

 

Biomedical Engineering Faculty in National Leadership Roles, 2017-2018

Jason Papin was elected a 2018 Fellow of the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES). He joins a select group of just 165 BMES Fellows.

Jeff Holmes was elected a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). He is the current President of the Bioengineering Division of ASME. He won their 2018 Van C. Mow Medal.

Shayn Peirce-Cottler is President of the Microcirculatory Society (MCS).

Kim Kelly and Phil Bourne were elected to the College of Fellows of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE).

Now twelve BME faculty are AIMBE Fellows. Fred Epstein was the 2017 Chair of the AIMBE Academic Council.

Silvia Blemker was Program Chair for ASB2018, the Annual Meeting of the American Society of Biomechanics.

Tom Barker is Council Member Elect for the American Society for Matrix Biology and current Council Member of the International Fibrinogen Research Society.

 

Biomedical Engineering Faculty's Career Milestones, 2017-2018

Silvia Blemker, Kimberly Kelly, and Kevin Janes were promoted to Full Professor of Biomedical Engineering.

William Guilford became the School of Engineering Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Education.

Brian Helmke became the School of Engineering Director for Undergraduate Research.

Rich Price won the Focused Ultrasound Foundation’s Andrew J. Lockhart Memorial Prize for outstanding contributions to the advancement of cancer treatment using focused ultrasound.

Song Hu and Mete Civelek each earned his first NIH R01 Award.

Jeff Saucerman was named a Pinn Scholar in the School of Medicine, one of the school's top mid-career research awards.

John Hossack acheived his 100th U.S. Patent.
