The Department of Biomedical Engineering of the University of Virginia welcomes applications for two open-rank positions at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor levels in any research area. Rank, tenure status and compensation are dependent upon qualifications and experience. As one of the most established and influential programs in the country, the Biomedical Engineering Department at UVA is housed both in the School of Engineering and Applied Science and the School of Medicine. This unique positioning engenders a collaborative and translational research and teaching environment.

The candidates will join our exciting, collegial research environment, maintain an energetic and well-funded research program, and engage in teaching and mentoring of graduate and undergraduate students. Our established areas of research excellence include: medical imaging; tissue, cell, and molecular bioengineering; and computational systems bioengineering and data science. Prominent application areas at UVA include cardiovascular disease, immunology, cancer, drug delivery, neuroscience, and global health and infectious disease. A PhD and/or MD degree in Bioengineering/Biomedical Engineering or any other related field is required. To be competitive for a position at the rank of Assistant Professor, candidates should have outstanding potential for developing an independent research program. To be competitive for a position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, candidates must be nationally recognized for their scholarship and research and have an outstanding teaching track record and commitment to education.
