One of UVA’s Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (CCDC) teams has advanced to the Mid-Atlantic regional finals, which will take place March 28 - 30, 2019. UVA had two teams competing in the regional qualifier, and the team consisting of Mariah Kenny (Captain), Calvin Krist, Jacob Smith, James McDowell, Roman Bohuk, Daniel Chen, Guy Verrier, Conner Steenrod, William Mayes, Caroline Linkous, and Samuel Spelsberg advanced to the next round. Yonghwi Kwon, John Knight Assistant Professor, is the faculty advisor. The winner of the Mid-Atlantic CCDC will move on to the National CCDC, which UVA won in 2018!

About the CCDC:
The Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (CCDC) tests students’ skills at protecting a real-world network infrastructure against cyber threats. Students form a team and each team will be securing, managing, and maintaining a small business network – responding to business tasks called injects while a live Red Team that is attempting to break into your systems, and maintaining a core group of critical services for the simulated business.
