Here are some things to know about UVA's and UVA Engineering's novel coronavirus response.
- New Opportunities for Faculty and Staff to Connect – Faculty and staff are invited to participate in new Zoom chat sessions with the school deans:
Faculty Chat – Thursday, April 30 at 1:00 p.m.
Staff Chat – Thursday, April 30 at 2:30 p.m.
- Help Us Mark the Achievements of Graduating Students by Sharing Photos and Videos – We’re proud of our UVA Engineering students who have worked so diligently to earn their degrees. Since we can’t be together for final exercises on Grounds this May, please help us show our appreciation for this exceptional graduating class by uploading your photos and videos, which we will then compile and post on our school’s website and social media channels in tribute to their hard work. We’re inviting UVA Engineering students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni and friends to use this form to share photos and videos. Here is what we’re looking for:
Photos from students, faculty, staff and friends showing memorable moments from degree-earners’ time on Grounds. We appreciate the highest-resolution photos you can upload.
Videos of 10-15 seconds in duration (cell phone or tablet videos are fine - see video tips here):
Videos from students answering the questions: What was meaningful or important to you about your time at UVA, and is there anyone you would like to thank?
Videos from UVA Engineering faculty and staff answering the questions: What well wishes or advice would you offer to UVA Engineering graduates?
Videos from parents of UVA Engineering graduates: What would you like to say to your graduate and his/her classmates in this extraordinary year?
Videos from alumni friends of UVA Engineering and its students: What well wishes or advice would you offer to graduates in this extraordinary year?
- Career Offering to Share with Your Students: Making the Most of Your Summer During Covid-19 – Students are invited to join the Center for Engineering Career Development and the School of Data Science in a discussion about making the most of your summer. We'll explore options like projects with professors, online skill-building courses, micro-internships and remote internships, along with ways to build your network. Dave Ong from MAXIMUS will be there to give an employer’s perspective. If students are feeling anxious about all of the uncertainty we're experiencing, attending this session will give them concrete actions they can take to make a plan for the summer.
Wednesday, April 29

- Reminder: Nominate Students, Faculty and Staff for Excellent Contributions – The Society of P.R.I. requests assistance for its annual initiative to recognize UVA Engineering faculty, staff and graduating students who have made exceptional contributions to the University. During this difficult time, acts of selflessness and service may not be publicly visible to others due to distance. For this reason, the Society of P.R.I. believes it is more important than ever to commend the good deeds done daily on behalf of our community. If you would like to nominate an individual from UVA Engineering who has made a positive impact on UVA, please fill out the forms at the following links by Tuesday, April 28, at 11:51 p.m.
