Low Velocity Burner Rig

The Low Velocity Burner Rig (LVBR) is used as an efficient means of subjecting potential aircraft or shipboard turbine engine materials to the gas chemistries, high temperatures, and thermal cycling conditions of an actual turbine engine. Primarily designed for long duration testing (~1000 hr) the LVBR is capable of reaching temperatures up to 800 C within the sample chamber. Temperatures are modulated through controlled combustion of fuel and preheated air. Samples are introduced to combustion exhaust gases via a rotating carousel to allow for multiple samples to be tested simultaneously.
