Make an Impact - Join the Thornton Society!

The Thornton Society is a fellowship of friends of the University of Virginia School of Engineering and Applied Science who have made the visionary commitment to support the future of the school through sustained personal financial gifts.

Thornton Society gifts provide the dean and department chairs with the “rapid response” resources to react quickly to emerging opportunities or critical needs — all without grant proposals, funding committees or mountains of paperwork.

In a rapidly changing world, Thornton gifts provide critical flexibility. Thornton Society gifts support high-impact experiential programs that can launch new careers or new industries. Design a solar-powered vehicle. Build an off-road car for a Mini Baja endurance race. Take on projects in the Lacy Design Lab and develop the “next big thing.”
