Exam week is over and it's time for winter break!

Our office is open Monday-Friday of this week! We're hosting our usual drop-in advising hours, and you can also schedule an advising appointment through Handshake.
Along with the University, we will be closed Monday, December 23rd through Wednesday, January 1st.

If you need career-related assistance before our return in early January, visit us online:

Exploring possible majors and career options (TIP: check out the first destinations of UVA 2018 Engineering alums)
Investigating internships, externships (job-shadowing), research, and other ways to gain experience
Considering or preparing for grad school
Designing an internship or job search strategy
Crafting resumes and cover letters
Preparing for interviews
Developing relationships and networking (TIP: check out our sample outreach templates)
Evaluating, and possibly negotiating, offers

We also cover additional career tips and advice geared towards graduate students.

You can always find our site easily at engineering.virginia.edu/careers, and of course you can search “uva engineering career + topic of interest” to find advice from our team.

You'll soon find appointment availability for January on Handshake, and drop-in advising hours will resume the week of January 13th. Questions? Contact engineeringcareers@virginia.edu.

Career development over the holidays

Carve out time over the next month to update your resume or CV with experiences from the fall semester. Connect with family, family friends, and new people you meet and ask interesting questions about their career paths -- you never know who may offer ideas or referrals! Begin learning about the 100+ employers who have (already!) registered for the Spring Job & Internship Fair on January 29th and 30th.
Enjoy some time to rest and recharge! We'll see you in the new year.
