Maria Ziu

Maria earned a B.S. in Physics from Virginia Tech in May 2025. During her undergraduate studies, she assisted in physics and musculoskeletal biomechanics research and completed Department of the Navy internships in combat casualty care and diving/life-support systems. These experiences led to a focused interest in biomechanics and injury prevention, particularly military injury prevention. She is now pursuing a Ph.D. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Virginia’s Center for Applied Biomechanics, where her current research focuses on traumatic brain injury under Dr. Matthew Panzer.
