Mehrdad Shafiei Dizaji and Tianshu Li presented papers on their research at the 2019 SPIE Smart Structures + Nondestructive Evaluation in Denver, Colorado.
Mehrdad presented some preliminary work that leverages deep learning to detect damage from 3D point cloud datasets. His paper was titled “3D InspectionNet: a deep 3D convolutional neural networks based approach for 3D crack detection on concrete columns” and was part of the session: SHM-NDE of Civil Structures/Infrastructure III.
Tianshu presented her research on using text mining to evaluate context inherent to bridge inspection reports. Her paper was titled “Automated construction of bridge condition inventory using natural language processing and historical inspection reports” and was part of the session: SHM-NDE of Civil Structures/ Infrastructure V.
