Through our research, teaching, and engagement with multiple communities, the Department of Engineering and Society aims to illuminate the ways in which science, technology, and engineering have social consequences, and to explore and analyze science, technology, and engineering as social endeavors shaped by social conditions. Our research, teaching, and public engagement address sociotechnical challenges and inform the role of engineers and other stakeholders in their research and design practices.
In her book, Coleen Carrigan uncovers biases in tech, urging inclusivity and social responsibility. She calls for respect, diversity and accountability, envisioning a future where all voices thrive.
