We're a joint department of UVA's School of Medicine and UVA Engineering, surrounded by highly collaborative basic science and clinical research departments, centers and institutes.
The department provides an authentic training experience for biomedical engineering students, who have daily interactions with patients, clinicians, scientists and entrepreneurs. Our students develop and deploy their skills by solving real-world problems guided by key stakeholders in healthcare and medicine.
