Academics
Our co-location within UVA Engineering, the UVA School of Medicine and the UVA Health System uniquely positions us to make a difference. Our culture values and rewards collaboration, initiative and the translation of basic advances to achieve clinical and real world impact.
We have a highly collaborative student population of more than 90 graduate students and nearly 300 undergraduate students from across the country and around the world. Recognized with international awards, publications in highly respected journals, and as leaders of externally funded projects, BME students earn B.S., M.E., M.S., Ph.D. and M.D./Ph.D. while working side-by-side in our labs with students pursuing degrees in the biomedical sciences graduate program and medical scientist training program.
