Emerging Engineers
The Emerging Engineers program is a week-long summer program that provides high school students with a variety of immersive engineering experiences designed to educate them about the engineering field and inspire them to study and work in engineering.
Applications for the Summer 2026 program will open in spring 2026.
The Emerging Engineers program is designed to inspire future engineers to create cutting edge solutions to global problems.
This summer program is held at UVA Engineering. It is open to high school students (rising students in grades 9-12) and is free for accepted applicants.
The program offers hands-on engineering activities, lab tours, guest speakers, student panel discussions and community-building activities.
The program offers two engineering tracks to explore: Biomedical Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering.
Emerging Engineers builds on the success of the Bio-Med Tech-Girls program. The UVA School of Engineering and Applied Science is leading this unique collaboration between Charlottesville Women in Tech, Tech-Girls and the School of Education and Human Development.

Accepted and enrolled participants should receive an email from the Emerging Engineers executive team for information on next steps and associated forms that are required prior to the start of the program.
This program does not provide overnight lodging.
Transportation is not provided. It is the responsibility of the participant or participant's guardian to provide transportation to and from the designated pickup and drop off locations.
Detailed locations and times will be provided to participants through email prior to the start of the program.
Please bring a water bottle, wear comfortable shoes, and bring snacks and whatever other supplies you will need throughout the day. All program supplies and materials will be provided.
