At least 11% of college students in the United States experience food insecurity, meaning that they aren't able to afford enough nutritious food. UVa students aren't exempt from this problem. If you're experiencing food insecurity, we can help! You can visit the Engineering Food Pantry in Thornton A121, directly across the hall from Career Development, to supplement your diet. This open space, supported by the Engineering Student Council, operates on the honor system and is meant to help students in need. The UVa Community Food Pantry is much larger, and is open in the Student Activities Center of Newcomb Hall, seven-days a week.
Finally, if you find yourself experiencing this or other financial hardships, please talk with anyone in the Undergraduate Programs Office. They can help you find even more resources.
