UVA once again will send a team to the Collegiate Cyber Defense Challenge regional competition, the MACCDC (Mid Atlantic CCDC).UVA's team won first place in the qualifier competition which took place (virtually) last Saturday, March 21, 2020. This win advances the team to the Collegiate Cyber Defense Challenge regional competition, the MACCDC (Mid Atlantic CCDC) to take place April 2 - 4, 2020. Yonghwi Kwon, Assistant Professor in the Computer Science department, leads the teams. This will be the third year of UVA's participation in the MACCDC.
“While this is only a qualifier (and we expect more great news coming in soon!), I am particularly happy that our team was extremely collegiate and making such an excellent result under this extraordinary situation” says Kwon.
UVA has two teams, and the second team scored 20 out of 27, only with four students participating (less than half of the typical team).
