About

I rediscovered my passion for teaching and mentoring after retiring from a 35-year career in higher education IT.  My primary areas of interest are in smallsat systems: avionics, communications, ground support infrastructure, and autonomous systems in the flight environment).  I am privileged to serve as faculty advisor for UVA Rocketry (UVA’s rocketry ELP team) and the UVA CubeSat Club (our CanSat competition team, also developing an orbital cubesat mission).  Prior to retiring from UVA as Associate Vice President for Research, I served in leadership roles at Michigan State University, the University of Michigan, Merit Network, Inc., and the Mid-Atlantic Research Infrastructure Alliance, Inc.  I am an instrument-rated private pilot, Amateur Extra Class amateur radio operator, and TRA/NAR high-power rocketry Level 2 certified.
