We try to create a safe environment, not only for our students, but also for our faculty and our staff. To that end, please stay home or in your dorm room if you are ill with or are symptomatic for any communicable disease. I would rather you stay home if you are sick and work something out with your professor for make-up work or taking an exam than for illness to spread through the class. If you believe you are sick, please contact Student Health for appropriate treatment or testing. Remember, for COVID you are expected to isolate for 5 days after you first test positive, and to also mask indoors for 11 days after you first test positive.
Remember too that the Add deadline, the last day to sign up for a class in SIS, is September 5. I would advise you against adding a class two weeks into the semester unless you've been attending that class regularly or have made some other arrangement with the professor. September 6 is the last day that you can drop non-engineering classes, like Chemistry, Physics, or humanities courses. The Drop deadline for engineering courses isn't until October 10.
