National Society of Black Engineers

National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)

The NSBE chapter at the University of Virginia was established in 1984 and ever since then the chapter continues to fulfill the mission to increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers. The chapter fulfills this mission by providing academic support, professional development, and community service opportunities.

Since the establishment of our chapter on campus, we have graduated hundreds of successful engineers who now work at top companies and organizations worldwide. Our chapter maintains strong connections with industry partners and provides our members with unparalleled networking opportunities.

We are committed to academic excellence, leadership development and giving back to our community through STEM outreach programs. Our members regularly participate in regional and national NSBE conferences, competitions and professional development workshops.

Contact

NSBE at UVA is open to all students, regardless of major, year, or background. There is no application or interview process. The best way to get started is to come to one of our General Body Meetings. Dates and locations change each month, so follow us on Instagram at @nsbeatuva or email us to be added to our mailing list for announcements.

Students who want full membership benefits pay chapter dues of $15 per year and register for national NSBE membership, which has its own separate dues. National membership gives access to regional and national conferences, scholarships, and the NSBE career fair. Both are explained at https://www.uvansbe.com/membership.
