The UVA Rocketry Team

The UVA Rocketry Team

The UVA Rocketry Team is dedicated to providing undergraduate students from the Engineering School and other disciplines with experience in launch vehicle, propulsion, and payload design. The Team is comprised of two main branches: the Competition Team that builds a new rocket each year to compete in the International Rocket Engineering Competition (IREC), and the Research and Development (R&D) Branch that is working on a multi-year hybrid motor project to expand the Team's capabilities within IREC.

With UVA Rocketry, students have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with 3D CAD modeling and simulations, PCB design and flight computer programming, machining, and many other skills. The Team welcomes students of any experience level who want to learn more about rocket design.
