The UVA Engineering Office of Human Resources supports and engages the School's greatest resource: its faculty, staff and student talent.


The UVA Engineering Office of Human Resources:

  • Facilitates hiring of faculty, staff and student workers in accordance with University of Virginia policies and procedures
  • Serves as a resource on Human Resources matters such as compensation, benefits and performance management
  • Helps lead strategic initiatives related to faculty and staff culture and engagement

Human Resources provides direct support to School of Engineering hiring leaders for hiring faculty, staff and student workers, in accordance with state and federal law and UVA policies and procedures. Contact HR for hiring needs and/or questions.

    UVA's culture supports: bringing out the best in people by developing the potential of each person who works at the University, in order to accomplish the University’s mission; communicating and understanding expectations on a regular basis; and providing ongoing, timely and descriptive, informal and formal, feedback. In short, Performance Management is a collaborative, ongoing process between a manager and an employee to plan for, develop, and evaluate the employee’s work. It focuses on what employees do and how they do it. All University Staff and Classified Staff participate in the performance management process.

  • Hire Graduate Research and Graduate Teaching Assistants?


    We're excited to welcome graduate students to UVA Engineering, and eager for them to get started in their work and studies. Those who will serve as graduate research and/or teaching assistants must fill out required employment paperwork before they can start work.
