Ramakrishnan (Ram) Iyer
Ramakrishnan is a Research Engineer supporting computational simulations for various projects of automotive safety and the development of the finite element human body model (FE-HBM). Before joining the Center for Applied Biomechanics, UVA, he completed his Master of Science degree from the Technical University of Braunschweig, Germany. During the master’s program, he worked on various projects which involved the automation of finite element simulations, structural optimization, and machine learning. He also did an internship at Volkswagen AG, Wolfsburg, during which he worked on a project analyzing and improving the biofidelity of FE-HBM. Before starting his master's program, he worked as a project scientist for an Indian defense project that involved developing and validating an indigenous Indian finite element human body model. His areas of interest are human body modelling, occupant safety, and vehicle crashworthiness.
