Adam Barnes
About
Adam Barnes earned a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech in 1992, and an M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering in 1995, also from Virginia Tech, focused on high-temperature fiber optic sensors. After a few years working with fiber optic sensors, he went to work for Vatell Corporation building, calibrating, and designing heat flux sensors and associated electronics. In 2015, he returned to his alma mater to teach engineering, first in the Engineering Education department and then in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department. In 2019 he moved to the University of Virginia to continue teaching the next generation of engineers. He is an ASEE and AAAS member and interested in advancing engineering and science in both rising engineers and the general public.
