About
Mary Beck began teaching in the Department of Applied Mathematics in 1989 and retired in 2014. During her time in the School of Engineering and Applied Science she served as the Director of Applied Mathematics, the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, and the faculty advisor for the National Society of Black Engineers. In addition to her work teaching Applied Mathematics, primarily Calculus, she worked with the summer BRIDGE program and with the Clark Scholars Program. Her experiences before arriving in Virginia include teaching at Phillips Exeter Academy, the Taft Educational Center, and Smith College.
