The First-Year Engineering Experience

The First-Year Engineering Experience is a special feature of UVA Engineering’s curriculum, designed to transition students from high school to college. It helps them learn and apply skills and concepts while also gaining a sense of belonging and their own engineering identity. The First-Year Engineering Center is at the heart of this experience. It is led by a dedicated cohort of engineering faculty who both teach and advise the first-year students, providing guidance on academics as well as cultivating essential engineering mindsets.
