What excites you about engineering education … in your classroom, your research, and beyond?  Come share your answers, find collaborators and hear what is driving others to innovate in engineering education at this one-day symposium held on September 21, 2024, in Charlottesville, VA, at the University of Virginia.

The symposium – featuring flash talks by participants on their scholarly engineering education pursuits - will be headlined by keynote speaker Dr. Olga Pierrakos and a workshop led by Dr. Sarah Rodriguez.

Keynote delivered by Dr. Olga Pierrakos, NSF Program Director, Founding Chair of the  Wake Forest engineering program. and a founding faculty member of the  James Madison engineering program.  In addition to the keynote, Dr. Pierrakos, in her NSF Program Director role, will hold 1:1 meetings with participants throughout the day to discuss proposal ideas.   

Workshop led by Dr. Sarah Rodriguez, Associate Professor at Virginia Tech and co-editor of Latin* Students in Engineering . Participate in this interactive workshop on how to conduct impactful scholarly engineering education research.

All faculty, staff, and students engaged in engineering education are welcome and there is no cost to attend.

Parking is available at the following locations:

  1. Central Grounds Garage (Google Map): Next to Newcomb Hall; cost is $2.50/hour, payment via ParkMobile.
  2. Scott Stadium or Culbreth Garage: Each about a 10 minute walk but free on Saturday.
