The Council on Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology of the American Health Association has presented Mete Civelek with the 2020ATVB/AHA Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Recognition Award. Civelek is an assistant professor of biomedical engineering at the University of Virginia with a passion for creating a more diverse and equitable environment for students and faculty alike. This award recognizes those who have made an impactful contribution in promoting diversity and inclusion. Successful candidates must have a strong track record of training students, scientists from diverse background, and underrepresented groups.
