Biomedical Engineering at UVA Welcomes Two New Faculty to our Biomedical Data Sciences Group

Welcome to Sepideh Dolatshahi, Ph.D., and Mohammad Fallahi-Sichani, Ph.D., who will join the department in January 2020 and June 2020, respectively.  Both are recruiting PhD students and/or postdocs for Fall 2020.

Sepideh Dolatshahi, Ph.D.

Dr. Dolatshahi is currently a postdoctoral fellow in Dr. Douglas Lauffenburger's lab in the Department of Biological Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She develops new systems biology approaches to understand fundamental mechanisms of immune regulation and dysregulation, with an ultimate objective of identifying strategies to improve immunotherapies. Dr. Dolatshahi will begin her UVA faculty appointment in January 2020.

Mohammad Fallahi-Sichani, Ph.D.

Dr. Fallahi-Sichani is currently an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan where he directs the Laboratory of Systems Biology and Quantitative Pharmacology. His research area is in systems pharmacology and the complex responses of cancer cells to therapeutic interventions, particularly the drug resistance of cells and tumors to chemotherapy.  He will begin his UVA faculty appointment in June 2020.
