ECE graduate student Jesse Morgan (advisor: Andreas Beling) won the 2nd place Best Student Paper Award at theIEEE Photonics Conference (the flagship IEEE Photonics Society event), held Sept. 30 - Oct. 4 in Reston, VA, for his paper entitled ``High-Power Flip-Chip Bonded Modified Uni-Traveling Carrier Photodiodes with -2.6 dBm RF Output Power at 160 GHz'', co-authored with Keye Sun, Qinglong Li and Andreas Beling from UVA, and Steven Estrella, Maddy Woodson, Kenneth Hay, and Milan Mashanovitch from Freedom Photonics, Santa Barbara, CA. Well-deserved congratulations to Jesse and his coauthors! This recognition reflects the high quality and international visibility of our photonics program here at UVA.
