Prof. Chenyang Lu (left, of Washington University in St. Louis and former student of Prof. Jack Stankovic's),Prof. Jack Stankovic, and Phil Trella (Assistant VP Graduate Studies) Jack Stankovic's students and academic family have committed a gift to establish in honor of Professor Jack Stankovic's great mentoring and support of graduate student research. The award was kicked off with a $50,000 gift presented to Jack at his 70th birthday celebration following the cyber-physical systems workshop that was held on September 15, 2018 at the Darden School. Other generous donations were given during the event, and the fund is up to $71,000. The John A. Stankovic Outstanding Graduate Student Research Award goes to one or more Computer Science Ph.D. students who have demonstrated excellence in research during the academic year. The students are nominated by their advisors and voted on by all faculty based on a description of the student's or students' research highlights and achievements.
